Cocoa by sail : Here we go again !

03/13/2018

avontuur

On Monday 12th March, the schooner « Avontuur » entered the port of Puerto Morelos in Mexico. 8 tons of cocoa beans were loaded on board. They will cross the Atlantic Ocean to the port of Le Havre.

Expected to arrive at the beginning of May, they will be certified by the ANEMOS label, ensuring a reduced carbon footprint.

The boat, which should benefit from a local eastern flow, will head up to Cuba, to start its transatlantic return trip.

Last year we had already chosen the sail transportation to import a first lot of organic and fair trade cocoa beans from Dominican Republic to the port of Les Sables d’Olonne. This year, we rely on significantly higher quantities!

Our chocolate-maker team will transform these cocoa beans from the cooperative CACEP for Tabasco area. We will present a new Single Origin chocolate from Mexico! This cocoa will bring new flavours to our ever more innovative range. You will recognize them in organic shops thanks to the ANEMOS label.
