Cocoa by sail : Avontuur reaches the open sea!

03/28/2018

The sailboat Avontuur left the port of Puerto Morelos in Mexico heading to Cuba before crossing the Atlantic Ocean…

The boat set sail on March 16th, up the coast of Mexico and off Cancun close to the island “Isla Mujeres”!

It arrived 3 days later for a stop in Havana, Cuba.

This was a promising start and the winds were favourable for the first days of shipping of our beans! The ship crew prepares now to aim for the Azores to begin the crossing of the Atlantic to the port of Le Havre.

We will not fail to keep you informed of the episodes of this wonderful adventure. You can already follow the trip of our cocoa beans “From Mexico to Vendée” by clicking on this link!

WHY CAN WE TRANSPORT COCOA BEANS BY SAIL?

At Saveurs & Nature, our master chocolate-makers have a specific know-how: they know how to roast the cocoa beans!

We already roast different cocoa origins from Latin America and Africa. That is why we are independent in the choice of our exclusively organic cocoa beans. We can buy in small quantities and use this environmentally friendly method of transportation.

On another hand, small sailboats can be useful by crossing the Atlantic Ocean with top class skippers. We will therefore propose a unique chocolate, entirely made in our chocolaterie!
